Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh on Thursday reviewed the ongoing development works in Sultanpur Lodhi and issued strict instructions to the concerned officials to ensure that all work, in preparation for the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, is completed by November 10.
In a meeting at the local rest house, joined by Rajya Sabha member Sant Baba Balbir Singh Seechewal, Aam Aadmi Party leader Sajjan Singh Cheema, and administrative officials, Dr. Ravjot Singh directed officials from the Public Works Department and Sewerage Board to prioritize roadwork. He emphasized that the roads leading to Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib and other Gurudwaras should be ready before the Nagar Kirtan, ensuring the town is fully prepared for the Sangat arriving for Guru Purab.
The Cabinet Minister added that the Smart City project works for the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi are being continuously monitored, and every effort is being made to develop Sultanpur Lodhi into a center of religious tourism by completing these projects within the stipulated timeframe.
He urged district administration officials to expedite the work and ensure quality through better coordination among the concerned departments, including the Public Works Department, Sewerage Board, Water Supply, and Municipal Council.
Earlier, the minister reviewed the installation of interlock tiles on Sultanpur Lodhi’s main roads.
District Planning Board Chairperson Lalit Saklani, Kapurthala Urban Improvement Trust Chairman Gurpal Singh Indian, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Navneet Kaur Ball, SDM Aparna, and officials from other departments were present on this occasion.
