Kapurthala police today arrested one jail inmate facing trial in the attempt to murder case of shiv sena leader of Batala and his one accomplice as accomplice managed to escape the inmate from custody of police at local civil hospital this afternoon.
Before fleeing on a motorcycle, accomplice fired at police party which had a providential escape and one policeman was injured while grappling the accused said police. policeman received minor head injuries.
In a press conference here this evening, Senior Superintendent of Police Vatsala Gupta said police arrested both the accused after a hot chase when both the accused managed to flee on a motorcycle.The jail staff had brought the accused Modern Jail for medical treatment said the SSP.
SSP identified the jail inmate as Jaspreet Singh involved in several criminal cases inclusing UPA(Unlawful prevention Act) and his accomplice Amritpal Singh.
police would also investigate the case for their alleged nexus with gangsters . police recovered one country made pistol and 12 live cartridges from the accused Amritpl Singh. A Police registered a case.
Meanwhile police also arrested three more antisocial elements and recovered four country made pistols and eight live cartridges from their possession said . She said accused were in the business of selling the weapons after buying from Bihar.
