Deputy Commissioner directs NHAI Division Rupnagar to submit the weekly progress report of Sirhind Canal steel bridge

Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar, Himanshu Jain, while inspecting the construction of the steel bridge over Sirhind Canal near Nehru Stadium, today ordered NHAI Division Rupnagar to Complete the work by November 30 and submit weekly progress report.

On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner issued instructions to the officials of the department and the representatives of the construction company to speed up the ongoing works and said that the work of the retaining wall of the bridge must be completed without any further delay as per regulations guidelines, along with the lighting of the bridge and other related works to be carried out according to set weekly targets.

Mr. Himanshu Jain said that with the construction of this four-lane steel bridge over Sirhand Canal, dozens of villagers and Doaba area including Nurpur Bedi area will also get a big relief, while the city’s traffic will also improve.  Keeping these facts in mind, he will personally inspect the progress report regarding the construction of this bridge every week.

Sharing information about the tourism outlook, the Deputy Commissioner said that the completion of this bridge will also boost tourism in the Satadree Island Park located on the Sutlej River.  Apart from this, boating is also being started again at the Sutlej river, which will further enhance the beauty of city.

National Highway Authority of India Division informed that the construction of the 135 meter long steel bridge will cost a total of Rs 52.77 crore while the total length of the project is 285 meters which will be four lanes and a 1.5 meter wide footpath is also being constructed on it.
