The NCC Unit at Desh Bhagat University Mandi Gobindgarh is taking proactive steps to address the grave issue of water scarcity through a dedicated programme aimed at raising awareness among students and the community. The aim of the Water Crisis programme was to highlight the challenges posed by water scarcity and emphasize the urgent need for conservation efforts. The program was organized under the guidance of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of DBU and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor.
The programe featured a series of informative sessions, interactive workshops and expert panels designed to educate participants about the causes, consequences and possible solutions related to water scarcity. Students, faculty members, NCC cadets and community leaders were encouraged to actively participate in these discussions, contributing their insights and ideas towards sustainable water management practices.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Navdeep Kaur deputy registrar DBU said, “I believe it is important for our community to understand the gravity of the water crisis and explore ways in which we can collectively reduce its impact.” “Through this initiative, we aim to foster a sense of responsibility and inspire people to take actionable steps towards conserving our precious water resources.”
The event also included practical demonstrations and simulations to showcase the daily challenges faced by communities affected by water scarcity. Participants had the opportunity to engage in practical activities that simulate water conservation techniques and learn about innovative technologies that promote efficient water use.
Dr. Ajaypal Singh Shekhawat, NCC Coordinator of the University, CTO Chamanpreet (Navy Wing) invites all members of the community, as well as interested members of the public, to join this important initiative and contribute to the conversation on water conservation.
