Nirmala Sitharaman is about to make history as the first finance minister ever to present seven consecutive Union Budgets. She will break the record set by Morarji Desai, who had presented six budgets in a row.
The 18th Lok Sabha’s inaugural session is scheduled to commence on June 24, as announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju earlier this week.
Spanning from June 24 to July 3, the session will witness the swearing-in of new Lower House members and the election of the Speaker.
President Droupadi Murmu is slated to address a joint session of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on June 27, where she is expected to outline the new government’s strategic vision for the upcoming five years.
During the initial three days of the session, newly elected leaders will take their oaths and participate in the election process for the House Speaker. Rijiju indicated that the 264th Session of the Rajya Sabha will run from June 27 to July 3. Following the President’s address, Prime Minister Modi is anticipated to introduce his council of ministers to Parliament.
The PM Modi will respond to the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in both the Upper House as well as the Lower House.
