New Delhi, June 8

At a food processing facility in Delhi’s Narela, a major fire broke out, causing a blast that resulted in at least three worker deaths and six badly injured, according to officials.

Officials say the fire started at a Moong Dal factory in the Narela Industrial region of outside Delhi. The incident happened early on Sunday morning.

According to authorities, preliminary investigations show that a gas leak in one of the pipes caused the fire to start. A blast occurred as a result of the compressor overheating due to the spreading fire.

The fire call was received at 3:38 in the morning, according to Delhi Fire Service (DFS) chief Atul Garg. Sixteen fire tenders in all were dispatched to the location.

According to Ravi Kumar Singh, the deputy commissioner of police for the north, nine persons were taken out of the factory that was on fire. The physicians pronounced three of them dead, and sent the others to Safdarjung Hospital.

The names of the deceased are Ram (30), Shyam (24), and Beerpal (42).

A few more employees also suffered burn injuries, and they are receiving care at Safdarjung and other medical facilities.

Ankit and Vinay Gupta, Rohini locals, have been recognized by the police as the food factory’s owners. The two are the subject of a case that has been filed under the relevant laws, and an investigation is underway.
