Akali Dal candidate from Patiala NK Sharma visited several villages of the district including Paragpur, Bahora, Brahmapura, Barauli Chadiyala to take stock at damaged crops.
Sharma said that due to heavy rains, hailstorms and strong winds in the past day, there has been heavy damage to the crops.
He said that this is a disaster of nature which no one can oppose but the Punjab government should release 50,000 as an immediate relief to the farmers who are farming by taking loans.
Sharma said that farmers have spent at least ₹ 40,000 for one acre, whose crop is sold for at least ₹ 1.5 lakh.
“In such a situation, the farmers have reached the verge of ruin, but the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs made a photo shoot. Nikal gaye hai, nor did any Punjabi know the decision of the emergency meeting called by Bhagwant Maan,” he added.
