Terming the Punjab Budget presented by Finance Minister Harpal Cheema in the State Assembly today as “visionless”, “hollow” and “betrayal” with the Punjabis, BJP National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill has said that no steps have been taken in the budget to revive the state economy that was put in reverse gear by this Aloof Anarchist Propaganda (AAP) government. “Today’s budget has shattered all the hopes of different sectors of the state”, he said.

Giving his reaction to the budget, Shergill pointed out that the economy of the state is on a ventilator under the present AAP regime, while adding, “Unfortunately, now the present budget is also devoid of generating revenue to bring the state out of debt.” Shergill said that the budget lacks any innovations in terms of raising revenue resources and policy initiatives for reaping the dividends of faster economic development of the state economy. “In a nutshell, the AAP government has lost miserably and failed to put the Punjab economy on track”, he stressed.

Lashing out at the Anarchist Arrogant Party (AAP) Government, Shergill said that the government not earmarking funds of Rs 1,000 per month to eligible 1.3 crore women, who have attained the age of 18 years, in the third consecutive budget, is one of the biggest betrayal with the women. “I am sure that the women voters will teach this Aisho Aaram Party (AAP) Government a lesson in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by making sure that AAP loses all 13 parliamentary seats in Punjab”, he added.

BJP Spokesperson further said that the AAP government has once again not made any announcement in the budget to fulfill the promises made about various sectors, including agriculture, industry, women, youth and employment. “It is shameful that being an agrarian state, ignoring the plight of the agri-sector, the government has not made any concrete announcement for the benefit of the farmers”, Shergill rued.

Shergill pointed out that the Punjab industry has been again left high and dry with the AAP government not fulfilling its promise of reducing the power tariff for the industry to Rs 5 per unit as promised before taking over the reins of the state.

Shergill termed the budget as nothing but a “bundle of lies” to deceive the innocent people of Punjab. Questioning the current status of the projects announced in the last budget, he dared the AAP government to bring a “White Paper” on all announcements made during the last budget. He said that U-Turns, broken promises, lies and hypocrisy are the hallmarks of this AAP government but now it stands completely exposed before the 3 crore people of the Punjab. “In reality, the AAP Government in Punjab is in ICU”, he said.
