After 3 years, man convicted of capital murder of Sikh Deputy Sheriff in Texas

A man has been convicted of capital murder in the 2019 shooting death of a law enforcement officer who was the first Sikh deputy in Texas.

A jury on Monday convicted a 50-year-old man of capital murder killing of Sikh Sheriff’s Deputy in Texas.

Sandeep Dhaliwal, a Harris County deputy who made headlines after gaining an exemption to wear a turban as part of his uniform, was fatally shot during a traffic stop in 2019.

A father of three children death – Deputy Dhaliwal – stunned the community in Houston who wear the traditional articles of faith, including a turban and a beard, while on patrol.

On the other hand, after firing his court-appointed lawyers before his trial began last week, Solis argued in court that he had accidentally discharged the weapon.
