National General Secretary of All India Congress Committee, former Union Minister, member of Congress Working Committee and former State President of Haryana Congress, Kumari Selja has said that the BJP’s promise to farmers to double their income to come to power has proved to be just a mere statement.
Haryana has lagged behind neighboring state Punjab in terms of sugarcane prices. Due to high price of sugarcane in Punjab, farmers of Haryana are feeling cheated.
The state government should try to bring the farmers out of losses by increasing the price of sugarcane to Rs 450 per quintal.
In a statement issued to the media, Kumari Selja said that this is the second consecutive year when Punjab has fixed the price of sugarcane higher than Haryana. Now the price of sugarcane in Punjab is Rs 391 per quintal, while in Haryana it is Rs 386.
