The Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission is soon going to launch an awareness campaign across the state, in which teachers, parents and general public will be made aware of every aspect related to child protection.
This campaign will be started from district Moga. This information was given by Kanwardeep Singh, Chairman of, the Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission while addressing an awareness function at the local ISF College of Pharmacy today.
He said that this is the first time that the Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission has made an effort to launch this campaign at the ground level.
During this awareness campaign, the priority will be given to spreading awareness about the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, Child Marriage Act, Right to Education Act, Safe Vahan Scheme, Cyber Crime and other aspects. Resource persons have been prepared by the commission for this campaign, who will prepare master trainers. They will go to schools and give training at the grassroots level.
He said that children are the heritage of our country, due to which all kinds of protection of children are very important. The commission is always there to resolve every issue related to children.
He appealed to the teachers that today thousands of children around us are deprived of the right to education due to various reasons. Such children should be encouraged and brought to schools. Poor children who are studying should be assisted for higher education.
If a child commits a mistake or crime unknowingly, instead of punishing him, efforts should be made to bring him into the mainstream by counseling him. He said that the personal efforts of teachers can change the lives of thousands of children.
Addressing the event, resource person Somashree emphasized that in today’s time, there is a great need to protect children from the influence of social media. Every person and child should be aware of the POCSO Act, Cybercrime and Information Act. Parental or teacher supervision is mandatory when children use the Internet. Along with this, it is also important to take care of children’s privacy.
Any incident related to children should be reported immediately on Child Helpline number 1098.
Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Mr Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal welcomed all the attendees and assured the district administration that any issue related to the safety of children will not be neglected. Mr Rajwinder Singh Gill, Deputy Director of the Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission and others also addressed the event.
Principals, School Heads, Block Primary Officers, Center Head Teachers and other teachers from different schools of district Moga participated in this event. On this occasion District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Mamta Bajaj, District Education Officer (Primary Education) Vinod Sharma, Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Gurdayal Singh, District Education Officer (Primary Education) Nishan Singh, Director of the College Parveen Kumar, Assistant Director Harpreet Singh and Pardeep Chhabra and others were present.
