Haryana: Pre-Diwali Bonanza for Public Representatives of Civic Bodies

As Khattar government on Thursday marked its 9th successful tenure anniversary, the Haryana Chief Minister announced a significant increase in honorarium for members of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Committees as a significant gift on the occasion of the Diwali festival. He said that the increased honorarium will be applicable with effect from October 1, 2023.

While addressing a press conference here today, he further announced that the pension for Hindi Movement Satyagrahis and emergency victims has been increased from Rs. 10,000 to Rs.15, 000. The Chief Minister also announced a 4 percent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for government employees as a Diwali gift. The Education Minister, Kanwar Pal also remained present on this occasion.

Manohar Lal shared that a meeting was held with Mayors, Senior Deputy Mayors, Deputy Mayors, Councilors, and Chairpersons of Municipal Councils to discuss various issues, including the increase in honorarium.

He said that earlier, Mayors received a monthly honorarium of Rs. 20,500, which has now been increased to Rs. 30,000. Similarly, the Senior Deputy Mayor’s honorarium has been increased from Rs. 16,500 to Rs. 25,000, while the Deputy Mayor’s honorarium has been increased from Rs. 13,000 to Rs. 20,000, and an honorarium of councillors has been increased from Rs. 10,500 to Rs. 15,000.
