Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Dr. Himanshu Agarwal has issued important orders regarding Ram Leelas to be held in the city.
According to these orders issued today, if there is profanity on any stage of Ram Leela, any film song, indecent dance or any kind of violation of decorum, then a case of 295 and 295-A will be registered against organisers of that Ramleela.
In these orders, it has been said that some religious organizations had demanded that in the coming time, Sri Ram Leela should be conducted with full religious respect and devotion.
There should not be any non-religious program including comedy, songs, plays, etc. on the stage of Ram Leela. Only the life of Meryada Purushottam Shri Ram Ji should be shown. Ram Leela should not have any film songs that hurt religious sentiments. No drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, etc. should enter Ravana’s Datbar and no artist should break any form of decorum.
If any incident occurs during Ram Leela or Dussehra, legal action will be taken against the organizer.
On September 12, the Hindu organizations of Gurdaspur submitted a demand letter to the DC in which it was said that there is obscenity in Ram Leelas, Jagrans, and other religious programs which hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus.
They demanded that no person should consume any kind of intoxicants in Ram Leela or any other religious programs, alcohol, meat or other intoxicants should not be shown, obscene film songs should not be played during Ram Leela and Jagrans, if music is compulsory in any function then only religious songs or bhajans should be played, Hindu organizations also demanded that if a person commits any kind of blasphemy in a religious event, a case under the charges of hurting religious sentiments and spoiling the social atmosphere should be registered.
