Indefinite strike affects bus service inconvenience to passengers

PEPSU and Punjab roadways contractual employees mainly drivers and conductors today went on indefinite strike in protest against non acceptance of their genuine demands.

The striking employees staged a dharna outside the office of GM and criticised the state government for not paying 5 percent increase in their salaries for the past two years and regularisation of their services.

PEPSU roadways kapurthala depot President Satnam Singh told PTI that a meeting of union leaders with Transport Minister was going on in Chandigarh today and expected positive outcome of the meeting.

PEPSU roadways kapurthala depot General Manager Parveen kumar told PTI that out of a fleet of 90 buses only 35 are in operation and remaining feet has been grounded due to strike .
Jasjit Singh a college student told PTI that he could not go to college at Jalandhar due to strike. There was a great rush of passengers at local bus stand .
