One jail inmate killed, 3 injured in gang war in Modern jail

One inmate killed and three injured in a clash between two groups in the early hours of this morning.
The seriously injured Simranjit Singh succumbed to his injuries in a hospital at Amritsar.

DIG Rajpal Singh Sandhu who rushed to jail on receiving information told PTI that one of inmate identified as Simranjit singh succumbed to injuries while three injured have been admitted in local civil hospital and stated to be out of danger.

Sandhu said it was not a gang war but two groups clashed due to old enmity.
Sandhu said police is investigating the case and will register a criminal case against the attackers.

Meanwhile injured inmates told media persons in local civil hospital that they were lay asleep in their barracks when some inmates attacked them with iron rods and sharp edged weapons and injured them.
