PSPCL imposes fine of Rs 40.04 lakhs to 110 consumers for power theft

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited campaign against theft of electricity in Punjab is getting momentum day-by-day and with an outcome of positive results. This was stated by spokesman of PSPCL in a press note here today.

PSPCL spokesman said that this special campaign to root out theft of electricity from Punjab will continue during the ongoing summer/paddy season. Spokesman also said that during this campaign PSPCL will impose fine to the erring consumers, and take appropriate action as per electricity act against erring consumers all categories.

The spokesperson also clarified that instructions have been issued to all PSPCL officers/officials that honest electricity consumers should not face any kind of problem .

Spokesman disclosed that PSPCL enforcement teams of Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala circles along with Police officials have checked the premises of 1191 consumers and imposed a fine of sum of rupees 40.04 lacs fine for theft of electricity and unauthorised use of electricity to 110 consumers in the past two days.

PSPCL spokesman disclosed that different enforcement teams of Bathinda circle have checked the premises of 169 consumers of Jhok, Hari Har,Shri Muktsar Sahin (City) and imposed fine of a sum of rupees 8.40 lacs fine to 20 consumers.

Spokesman also said that during the checking the enforcement teams of Ludhiana Circle have checked the premises of 131 consumers of Janta Nagar Unit number 3, Ludhiana Sub Division and imposed fine of rupees 8.28 lacs to 8 erring consumers for theft of electricity and other violations.

Enforcement teams of Patiala circle have checked the premises of 510 consumers of Dhuri (Suburban) , Malerkotla(City 2) Sehna ,Rangian Tapa1 Tapa 2 , Dhauanla 2 Tech 1 Mohali subdivision and imposed fine of a sum of rupees 9.11 lacs to 36 consumers for theft and other violations.

Spokesman also added that enforcement teams of Jalandhar circle has checked the premises of 126 consumers of Shahkot and Malsian and imposed fine sum of rupees 9.47 lacs to 21 consumers, whereas enforcement teams of Amritsar circle have raided in the premises of 255 consumers of Islamabad and Model Town Batala subdivision and imposed fine of a sum of rupees 4,78 lacs to 13 consumers.

PSPCL spokesman has appealed to all its consumers to help PSPCL in controlling the menace of theft of electricity by providing information about theft of power for campaign against theft of electricity in the state.
