Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament from Punjab announced that Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh Cultural Heritage Centre being built at Rouse Avenue in Delhi.
He was speaking while paying floral tribute to great Maharaja on his 184th death anniversary at his bust at Barakhama Road donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Trust of which Shri Sahney is the Secretary-General.
Sahney said that the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Heritage Centre will be the first Punjabi Cultural Heritage Centre in the heart of city close to Connaught Place which will propagate the rich ideals of Sher-e-Punjab and will promote Punjabi culture and Heritage.
From this place, today’s youth will get to know about his regime that how it was the most exemplary and secular where all communities lived peacefully in brotherhood and prosperity and there were no forced conversions.
Remembering the great warrior and ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh Sahney said that You cannot find any parallel of his stature in History.
He was the last sovereign of India who defined the north-west boundaries of India and stopped the invasions and ruled a vast empire of Punjab ranging from Kashmir to Sindh and even conquered Peshawar and Kabul. Even He was one of the few rulers with whom Britisher did a treaty of not crossing Sutlaj.
Sahney also appealed to the whole youth of nation to read a biography of Maharaja Ranjit Singh and other related literature and learn about the valour and Gallantry of Sher-E-Punjab.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh used to roam around in his state as an impersonator to check if everything is fine under his regime and no one was sleeping without food.
