PSPCL launches special campaign against electricity theft

The aggressive campaign launched by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited against the theft of electricity in the state is gaining momentum day by day and yielding good results.

A spokesman said that PSPCL’s intensive special campaign to root out the theft of electricity in Punjab will continue during the ongoing summer/paddy season.

During this special campaign against the theft of electricity, apart from fine to the erring consumers, appropriate action will be taken against erring consumers in all categories and the agricultural sector where fake tubewell connections are running, as per rules.

A spokesman said that apart from fines, appropriate legal action will also be taken against the consumers who are found guilty of electricity theft. The spokesman also clarified that honest electricity consumers will not face any kind of problem.

The spokesman disclosed that PSPCL enforcement teams of Amritsar, Bathinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Patiala circles along with Police officials have checked the premises of 451 consumers and imposed a sum of rupees 15.70 lacs for theft of electricity and unauthorized use of electricity in the past two days.

PSPCL spokesman disclosed that different enforcement teams of Bathinda circle have checked the premises of 219 consumers of Bhagta Bhaika, Dharamkot, Shri Muktsar Sahib (suburban), Jalalabad, Malot (City) Guru Har Sahai (Suburban)Talwandi Sabo and Bathinda imposed a sum of rupees 6.60 lacs fine to 14 consumers.
The spokesman also said that during the checking the enforcement teams of Ludhiana Circle checked the premises of 33 consumers of Estate U 1&2 and imposed a fine of rupees 7.1 lacs to 12 erring consumers for theft of electricity and other violations.

Enforcement teams of Patiala Circle have checked the premises of 199 consumers of Mohali and Mani Majra and imposed a sum of rupees 2 lacs on 14 consumers for theft and other violations.

PSPCL spokesman has appealed to all its consumers to help PSPCL in controlling the menace of theft of electricity by providing information about the theft of power for the campaign against theft of electricity in the state.
