Haryana Government will observe ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ on June 26, 2023. Sant Mahatma will address youths on the issue of drug abuse at the Sant Sammelan programme to be held in Panchkula.
It is worth noting that on May 5, 2023, on the occasion of CM’s birthday, Manohar Lal appealed to the saints to cooperate with the government to remove the social evils spread in the society. In this series, a programme will be organized under the guidance of Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj at Indradhanush Auditorium, Panchkula to mark ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ day.
The Chief Minister asserts that since ancient times, saints and great men have always worked to make people aware against social evils. Following the principles and teachings of great saints who have always guided society to follow the right path. The Chief Minister asked the saints to assist the state government in its water conservation and de-addiction campaigns.
Haryana government is taking stringent action against drug peddlers
As per the direction of the Chief Minister, the Haryana government is taking stringent action against the drug peddlers. For this, the government has constituted a special task force. Anti-narcotics cells have been constituted at the district, range and state levels and more than 5,000 arrests have been made in Haryana.
Mobile app ‘Saathi’ has been created to prevent illegal sale of medicines. Also, software HAWK has been developed for the database of criminal activities and the Inter-State Drug Secretariat has been established in Panchkula. He informed that the state government has prepared a special action plan for de-addiction and 52 de-addiction centres have been opened in the state. Besides, de-addiction wards have been opened in government medical colleges and de-addiction centres have been set up in civil hospitals of 13 districts.
Apart from this, the state government is running a special awareness campaign for public awareness. For this, mission teams have been formed from village to state level. Toll free anti-drug helpline number 9050891508 has been started on which citizens can give information and ‘Dhakad’ programmes are also being run to save the youth from drugs.
