Mahila Kisan Union president Biba Rajwinder Kaur Raju urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to pass a legislative resolution to the Center for immediate release of prisoners serving more than life imprisonment during the current budget session. Apart from this, orders should be issued to the executive to speed up legal action on other sensitive issues.
The Mahila Kisan Union, in a memorandum submitted to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raman Arora here on Sunday, supporting the struggle of Qaumi Insaaf Morcha, has demanded the immediate release of all the imprisoned Sikhs who had already completed sentence to more than life imprisonment. The union has also demanded that strict law on the desecration of scriptures pending in the assembly since 2016, should be passed and implemented to punish the culprits insulting Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the state. Apart from this, legal action should be taken against those responsible for the infamous incidents of Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan firing.
Women farmer leader Biba Raju has also urged the state government to form a high-powered committee consisting of legislative, government and public representatives to monitor all such sensitive issues. Expressing her anger, she lamented that it is the responsibility of the ruling party to stop the injustice being done to the people of the state and AAP leaders should raise their voice in Vidhan Sabha, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to get justice, but the Aam Aadmi Party party has failed so far on this front.
