In a grand tribute to the legendary singer Mohamad Rafi Saheb, the Yaadgar-e-Rafi Society organized the Rafi Memorial Nite-2024 to mark his 100th birth anniversary. The event featured an enchanting evening of soulful melodies, with renditions of iconic songs sung by Rafi.
The event was graced by Mr Harbhajan Singh ETO, cabnit minister Punjab chief guest and distinguished guests of honor, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and Dr. Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, who paid homage to the legendary artist.
A special moment of the evening was the honoring of Sahid Rafi, the son of Rafi Saheb, his wife Firdaus Rafi and S Harbhajan Singh ETO cabnit minister, Punjab by Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur. On behalf of Yadgar-E-Rafi Society Dr Zora Singh honored by Sahid Rafi and general secretary BD Sharma. This gesture highlighted the enduring legacy of Mohamad Rafi, a voice that defined an era and continues to inspire millions.
The musical performances during the event transported the audience to the golden age of Indian cinema, as artists beautifully revived Rafi Saheb’s timeless classics along with the works of his contemporaries.
In his address, Dr. Zora Singh hailed Mohd. Rafi as a symbol of excellence and humility, emphasizing the importance of remembering and honoring such cultural icons. Dr. Tajinder Kaur highlighted the timeless appeal of Rafi Saheb’s music, calling it a treasure that transcends generations.
The event also saw the presence of prominent personalities including Suvir Sidhu, Member of the Bar Council of India; Sanjiv Kumar, DGM Union Bank; SMS Sandhu, Ex-Chairman of Infotech Punjab; Dr. Surjit Kaur Patheja, Director Media DBU and Jasbir Maggu.
Meanwhile Desh Bhagat Radio107.8 fm (Aapki Aawaaz ), Chnadigarh and Tricity senior citizens has celebrated 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Bollywood playback singer Mohd. Rafi. On this occasion Vimal Trikha, Founder Member of Bollywood Felicitation Cell Chandigarh, Rakesh Jethi, Bhushan Malhotra, Deepak Rakhi and S K Arora paid tribute with Rafi’s songs.
