As a part of the celebration of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a nationwide Walkathon and Eat Right Mela is proposed to be organized by the Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), wherein people from all walks of life would join to spread the message of Safe and Healthy Food for life as well as the importance of physical fitness to ensure that Indians are healthy and active. This activity aims to mainstream Eat Right India messages at the mass level including the adoption of fortified foods and millets as nutria-cereals in diets.
Food Safety Administration, Health Department, U.T. Chandigarh has been geared up for a mass awareness campaign of safe, fortified and healthy eating without wasting food through Walkathon from Rock Garden, Sector-1, Chandigarh and Eat Right Mela at Sukhna Lake Club on 15th May, 2022.The Walkathon consists of participants from all walks of life, Walkers, Doctors, Medical Health Workers, NCC cadets, NSS voluntaries, Anganwari Workers, Students of GRID, Students of CIHM & AIHM, Schools children’s, Students of Punjab University Hospitality Department who would spread the mass message among the public to eat Safe, Healthy and Sustainable Food. The Walkathon would be Flagged off from the Rock Garden area on 15th May 2022 at 7:00 AM by Secretary Health, U.T. Chandigarh, Yashpal Garg, IAS. Subsequently, thereupon Eat Right Mela would be organized at Sukhna Lake Club throughout the day.
