Haryana Governor,   Bandaru Dattatraya said that the Universities should work towards introducing a system of imparting education in the local language while implementing the National Education Policy 2020, as it will greatly benefit the students.  He said that though this system might take some time the outcome of this would be good.

The Governor said this while addressing the concluding session of the one-day workshop of Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities across the state held at Raj Bhavan today. Professor B.K Kuthiala, Chairman, Haryana Council of Higher Education also remained present on this occasion.

He appealed to the academicians present in the workshop that Universities should not become a centre of business.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that money is not everything, teaching is a very respectable profession, therefore it should not be commercialised.

He appreciated the private universities for taking steps towards the implementation of the National Education Policy.

The Governor said that during the Pandemic crisis, the education sector has been affected the most.  Nevertheless, we have moved ahead while overcoming this challenge. Students studied through digital medium and educational institutions have played an important role in this, said   Bandaru Dattatraya.

Inspire youth to become entrepreneurs

While calling upon the academicians present in the workshop, the Governor said that such a positive environment should be created in the universities that instead of running after jobs, the students should be inspired to become entrepreneurs.  He said that this goal can be achieved only through skill development.

Recounting one of his memories, he said that when he was the Labour Minister in the Union Government of Prime Minister  Narendra Modi, he had held several hours of consultation with the Prime Minister and after this, a separate skill development department was formed.

The Governor said that local and need-based skill development plans should be worked out.  Urging to focus on skill development based on agriculture, he said that besides this, more emphasis should be given on natural farming. He asked to focus on promoting  food, health and small skill development courses.

He called upon the youth of the villages to identify skill development and called upon the universities to focus on research, startup and innovation.

Dedicate atleast one hour for sports

The atmosphere of the universities should be drug-free and maximum care and attention should be given to the children living in the hostels.
