Under government’s water supply scheme, Bargari village gets clean water now

  • Won the state award for best performance.
  • Deposit Rs 14 lakh from savings in Panchayat account.

The Punjab Government has launched various water supply schemes under the World Bank and other schemes to provide safe drinking water to the people at their homes. Villagers and Panchayats are getting huge benefits and support from the government. The water supply scheme of village Bargari under block Kotkapura of Faridkot district in collaboration with the village panchayat, water supply, and sanitation committee and the department has been successfully providing clean drinking water to the village. The Panchayat is setting a new record with the help of the villagers and has also made this scheme a source of income for the Panchayat. Pritpal Singh, Sarpanch, and Chairman Water Supply and Sanitation Committee of the village said, “the water supply project of the village was working in a very efficient manner and pure drinking water connections were running in 1,700 houses of the village.” He said that due to the full support of the village panchayat, water supply, and sanitation committee and the department and the government, the village panchayat has deposited about Rs 14 lakh in the savings account from this project. He said that this excellent performance could only be achieved by the Punjab government by placing this water supply scheme at second place in the state level in the year 2014-15 and awarding it a prize. He said that it was working under the slogan of the department “Jal Jeevan da Anmol Ratan, do it every effort to preserve it”. He said this water supply scheme was being run in a very efficient manner in coordination with each other. He said that many villagers and officials of the department came to see the experience of running their water supply scheme efficiently and saving water. Vimal Kumar Setia Deputy Commissioner of the district while talking about the achievements and achievements of the water house of village Bargari said that the whole district is proud of it. He said that about 124 water supply schemes were running successfully in the district and orders were issued from time to time for further improvement in them. Vipan Singla, Executive Engineer of the department said that the water supply scheme of Bargari village is an example for all of us and the rest of the villages also need to learn from such successful running water supply schemes. On this occasion, J.E. Gurpreet Singh Grover and Parminder Singh were also present.
