Under SVEEP programme, Massive Cycle Rally organized to generate awareness among voters

In order to generate awareness about voting rights among the people, ahead of Punjab Assembly elections in February 2022, the Massive Cycle Rally under the SVEEP – Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation, was flagged off by Davinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner and also joined the rally.

The Cycle Rally dedicated to ‘Democracy-Ride to Vote’ as a part of the SVEEP programme started from Saragarhi Gurudawara at 8 AM and culminated at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium passing through the various historical gates on the ring road.

Om Parkash, SDM, Chand Parkash Tehsildar Election, also joined the cycle rally along with Dr Satinder Singh District SVEEP Coordinator, SVEEP Icons Harish Kumar, Hussainiwala Riders members, SBS Technical University staff, NCC cadets led by Capt Inderpal Singh, Deepak Sharma, Mayank Foundation, Kamal Kumar, Rotary International -NGOs and school children, local cycle lovers.

Deputy Commissioner appreciated the role of all in making the massive cycle rally a success and also honoured them with a certificate in recognition.

Speaking on the occasion, DC said, there is a need to update the voting data like the addition of new voters, deletion etc. apart from new registration and it could be possible only with the cooperation of people. He also apprised the people of the power of voting and to strengthen democracy, each one should exercise their voting right by registering as a voter, if not already registered. He said, voting without fear, intimidation or greed, is the only way to build a strong country by choosing the government of our choice and we have been given the right to vote in the Constitution. In the coming days, we will be organizing more awareness programme and celebrations of Voters Day on January 25 next year.
