Under ‘Corona Free Village’ campaign, special teams continue sampling in rural areas

Under ‘Corona Free Village’ campaign being run by the Punjab Government, teams of Health Department in collaboration with Rural Development and Panchayat Department along with other departments have begun sampling in villages as well as people are being sensitized to avoid Covid-19. Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Mohammad Ishfaq said that the objective of ‘Corona Free Village’ campaign is to test every person with symptoms of Covid, contact tracing of those associated with them and to create awareness for adherence to the prescribed medical protocol for prevention of Covid. Eligible people are also being encouraged to get vaccinated against covid-19. Deputy Commissioner said that under this campaign all the villages of the district would be covered in order to prevent this pandemic from spreading in the villages. He said that all the medical officers, SDMs, officers of the rural development department have been directed to make direct contact with all the sarpanches and panches to ensure testing at common places. Deputy Commissioner said that Asha workers, health personnel are visiting door-to-door to check the health of the suspected patients of Covid and the information is being conveyed to the concerned medical officer so that necessary action could be taken. He said that the teams are also informing people about the proper management of bio-medical waste as it poses the highest risk of spreading the virus. Deputy commissioner appealed to the people to get tested immediately if they have any symptoms as controlling Covid early on would help in saving lives.
