Two miscreants involved in looting and snatching incidents were today seriously injured in an encounter with police in the Mand area of Dhilwan in Kapurthala.
This incident was confirmed by Senior Superientendent of Police Gaurav Toora.
Police identified the injured accused as Hakam Singh and Joga Singh both residents of Latianwal village falling in Sultanpurlodhi.
Narrating the details of incident, a police party spotted accused roaming in the Mand area of Dhilwan riding on a without a number plate motorcycle and signalled them to stop . At this they fired at police party and police in self-defence also opened fire and encounter took place and both were arrested with bullet injuries—the police however hada providential escape .
The injured accused have been admitted in local hospital and their condition is stated to be serious.
Police said both were in involved in many looting and snatching incidents in the Punjab.
Police has registered a case.
