Technical Education Department starts online classes for ITI students in the State

The Technical Education and Industrial Training Department have started the online classes to provide training to the students of the Industrial Training Institutes of the State. The E-Learning content of theoretical subjects has been identified for 34 trades by constituting the committees of the Principals and Instructors.

Mr. Anurag Verma who is the Principal Secretary Technical Education Department & Industrial Training quoted that the step has been taken under the directives of Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi, Technical Education Minister as he did not want the academics of the students to suffer.

The E-Learning material has been identified from several sites such as National Instructional Media Institutes (NIMI), YouTube, and Bharat Skills, etc. The E-Learning material has been arranged week wise as per the syllabus prescribed by NCVT, Director General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Verma also briefed about the methodology of teaching and said that the E-Learning material would be sent to the trainees one day before till 4 pm via Whatsapp. The next day, the instructors would take an online class session from 10.30 to 4 pm to give assignments to the trainees. The students will have to submit the assignments till 6 pm via Whatsapp only.

Each weekend, the instructor will hold a test for the trainees. Engineering drawing and workshop calculation & Science classes would be conducted every day at 3 p.m. for students of engineering trades.

After all the necessary training to educate the students, methodology, usage of the Internet, etc, the system has given hope to the students to continue with their academics without any hindrances. Thereafter all the Instructors taught their students about ‘studying through online sources’ via video conferencing.

After a few trials by the professionals and Verma himself, the initiative is successfully carried out. Although a few difficulties are being faced in the implementation of this system as of now, the trainees and trainers are very enthusiastic about this online system. The process would be improved constantly by taking regular feedback from all stakeholders.
