Sweepers Commission to take legal action against officials who exploit janitors alleges chairman Geja Ram

Punjab Sweepers Commission Chairman Mr. Geja Ram has directed the officers of Municipal Councils of Municipal Corporation Batala and District Gurdaspur to pay the dues to the unskilled workers online in their accounts and If any officer acts negligently or negligently, the Commission will take legal action against that officer. Chairman Mr. Geja Ram was listening to the grievances of the janitors at Batala Municipal Corporation today. On this occasion he was accompanied by the Vice Chairman of Punjab Sweepers Commission Mr. Ram Singh, Member of the Commission. Inderjit Singh, Member Mr. Prem Masih and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Batala. Balwinder Singh was also present.

Chairman Geja Ram sternly reprimanded the officials and said that exploitation of any janitor would not be tolerated and due remuneration should be paid to the janitors under labor laws. He said that the commission would recommend to file a fraud case against the contractors who had misappropriated PPF funds of the raw cleaners under the outsourced system in the past. Jita Rani, a janitor from Batala who died on duty due to corona virus and despite more than 100 days elapsed, her heirs did not receive the declared amount of Rs 50 lakh for corona victims. Instructed the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to pay a compensation of Rs. 50 lakh to the victim’s family in the next 15 days or else the Commission would take legal action on its behalf.
