Kiranjot Kaur, an SGPC member, has opposed naming Shaheedi Diwas of Sahibzade ‘Veer Bal Diwas’.
Kiranjot Kaur said that declaring Shaheedi Diwas of younger Sahibzade as “Veer Bal Diwas” is reductionist in nature. She added that no non-Sikh has any right to reinterpret Sikh idiom.
It is to be noted that Kiranjot Kaur is the granddaughter of Sikh revolutionary Master Tara Singh.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that starting this year, December 26 will be marked as ‘Veer Baal Diwas’ as a tribute to the courage of Sahibzades (Guru Gobind Singh’s sons) and their quest for justice.
