Chandigarh, November 19

Punjab Government has appointed senior advocate Deepinder Singh Patwali as Punjab Advocate General.

The government of Punjab made the announcement in an official notification published on Friday.

The Channi government, including High Command, is dominated by Navjot Singh Sidhu, as new AG of Sidhu’s choice is appointed.

On November 9, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi had accepted the resignation of the former Advocate General APS Deol after yielding to the pressure mounted by the state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu for replacing the state’s AG.

Sidhu had been pushing for his appointment as the state’s top law officer, and replacement of Deol who had represented former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini in cases related to the 2015 post-sacrilege police firing incidents.
