“Safe Food Markets” of chemical-free vegetables resume services in Hoshiarpur

Safe Food Markets were reintroduced by the district administration to promote farmers who do chemical-free organic farming, to create awareness in the wake of Covid-19.

Giving this information, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyat said that different services have been started for the convenience of the public during the lockdown imposed by the Punjab government.

She told that the Safe Food Market at Roshan Ground Hoshiarpur has also been restarted, which is being held every Sunday of the week from 7:30 am to 11 am. She instructed the agriculture department to make sure that the coronavirus precautions are adopted to prevent its spread.

She also appealed to the farmers and consumers to ensure that the use of masks and sanitizers should be ensured while maintaining social distance at the Safe Food market.

Apneet Riyat said that the Safe Food Market has been started to encourage farmers to do chemical-free farming in the district and to facilitate self-mandate. She said that in these markets, only certified farmers have been ordered to sell their commodities to encourage chemical-free farming.
