SAD slams govt for registering FIRs against party leaders

The Fact News Service
Chandigarh, June 9
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) attacked the Capt Amarinder Singhled Congress government in Punjab alleging that it was trying to suppress those who were standing by the people in their hour of unprecedented crisis. SAD senior vice-president Prem Singh Chandumajra was reacting to the “ridiculous decision” of the Punjab government to register “false cases” against Akalis for protesting against health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu for his alleged corruption during Covid calamity. Mohali police had on Monday evening registered an FIR against the SAD president and over 200 party men for violating district magistrate’s orders on Covid restrictions. The SAD had carried out a protest on Monday outside the health minister’s residence in Mohali on the alleged scam in purchase of ‘Fateh Kits’ and supply of Covid vaccine to private hospitals to earn profit. The FIR was registered under Disaster Management Act, 2005, and sections of the IPC at Mataur police station in Mohali district.
