In a bid to sensitize the farmers about the ill effects of stubble burning, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ropar today organized a Block Level sensitization camp for the farmers. Mr. Amardeep Singh Gujral, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Dev.), Ropar inaugurated the camp.
Disclosing this Dr. G.S Makkar, Deputy Director (Trg.), KVK, Ropar said that this camp was organized under the aegis of Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana and ICAR ATARI, Zone-1. He said that the other motive of this camp was also to flag off the CRM machinery for its further use by the farmers free of cost. He said that this camp was organized under the project on “Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-situ Management of Crop Residue in Punjab”. He said that the main objective of this programme was to create awareness among the farmers on the ill-effects of paddy residue burning and encourage them to adopt novel technologies recommended by the PAU for management of crop residue.
Mr. Makkar further said that KVK, Ropar has also put up an exhibition during this programme which remained a major attraction of the event for the farmers. The Chief guest, Sh. A.S. Gujral visited the exhibition and motivated the farmers for adoption of the various novel technologies recommended by the PAU.
