Keeping in view the festive season under ‘Mission Healthy Punjab’, the guidelines of the Commissioner Food and Drug Administration and Civil Surgeon Dr. Led by Davinder Kumar, Assistant Food Commissioner Madam Harpreet Kaur and her team collected 10 samples of various food products from grocery and sweet shops in Rupnagar district. The Food Commissioner said that samples of milk, ghee, biscuits, mustard oil, packed drinking water, khoya barfi, juice, pulses and coriander powder have been collected from the city today. The owners of the shops concerned have been made aware of the provisions of the Food Safety Standards Act. He directed the sweet house owners and shopkeepers to refrain from any kind of adulteration. And pay special attention to cleanliness. He instructed the food vendors to introduce themselves as FSSAI. He also directed all the shopkeepers to keep food items covered and sell them. Besides, they should not use plastic envelopes at all.
