To settle the grievances relating to the Dalit community, on Monday, Punjab State SC Commission members had a meeting with the civil and police officials.
Addressing the meeting Punjab SC Commission members Raj Kumar Hans and Deepak Kumar accompanied by All India SC Commission Women Cell member Shashi Bala, asked the concerned authorities to resolve the grievances received from the people belonging SC category on priority.
They said that some complaints from various villages and towns of Ferozepur district have been received, on the emails of the SC Commission and taking a serious note of the same, we have come here for redressal of their grievances.
Divulging with details, they said, a complaint from Jagsir Singh of Lohgarh was received for forcible demolition of houses by the sarpanch of the village. After listening, the issue was resolved on the spot.
In another complaint received from Harjinder Singh of village Kamagar of a dispute between the two families. The police authorities were asked to investigate and take action accordingly by the SC members. The third complaint from Nimmo of Khalsa Colony of Alike Road of similar nature was also looked at. In this case, too, the police were directed to take the matter seriously and take action, under the law. The fourth complaint was lodged by Akbar residents of Kuh Chah Parsi against a doctor at a civil hospital over the corona test. The police officers have been directed to investigate the matter based on facts on record.
The members also listened to the grievances of some other people and received their petitions.
District Development and Panchayat Officer Harjinder Singh and Tehsil Social Justice and Empowerment Officer Sukhjit Singh were also present on the occasion.
