Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu today laid the foundation stone of Mother Child Hospital at Jagraon. He informed that this hospital would come up within the Civil Hospital, Jagraon complex and would be constructed with a cost of around Rs 8.5 crore. He informed that this hospital would be completed in a year.
While speaking to media persons, Sidhu said that it would be a three-storey 30-bedded hospital, which would have facilities of ultrasound, ECG, laboratory, pharmacy, feeding room, newborn stabilization unit (NBSU), recovery room, A-septic operation theatre, pre-natal room, Labour room, septic labour room, a pediatric ward with nurse station, private rooms, wards, besides other facilities.
He also informed that to check the shortage of doctors in the department, the Punjab government would be recruiting a total of 7055 staff in the health and family welfare department. He said that this staff would include 500 medical officers, 500 specialist doctors, paramedical staff, ANMs, multipurpose health workers, nurses, technical staff, besides others.
