Hoshiarpur, May 1
Punjab Industry and Commerce Minister Sundar Sham Arora said that Punjab Government was fully prepared to deal with any situation arising out of the virus and every effort was being made to provide all facilities to the people of the state. He was reviewing the COVID relief works and wheat procurement arrangements in the district during a meeting with the district officials today. Deputy Commissioner Apneet Ryat and SSP Gaurav Garg were also present.
The Cabinet Minister said that the lockdown has been carried out by the Punjab government to check the spread of the effects of Covid-19 and in the meanwhile, the people of the state were being provided facilities at home. He said that rations were being distributed to the needy in a smooth manner so that no one had to go to bed hungry. He said that this initiative of the villages would curb the spread of the virus.
Arora said that the state government has also provided financial assistance to the registered workers. He said that Rs.3000 per person has been deposited in their accounts. He directed the concerned officers to ensure special arrangements for the facilities of the persons being kept in the Covid Relief Care Centres so that there would be no shortage of facilities.
Reviewing the procurement arrangements, he said that the procurement of wheat in the mandis should be ensured smoothly. Deputy Commissioner Apneet Ryat said that while strong arrangements have been made by the district administration in view of Covid-19, the procurement of wheat in the mandis was going on smoothly.
He said that every facility was being provided to the people of the district during the curfew imposed to check the spread. He said that the district level control room issued by the administration in this regard was proving to be very effective and so far about 7800 problems have been resolved.
