Punjab CM lays foundation stone of Film City at Bassi Pathana

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a film city which would be constructed by the PFC world entertainment private Limited at village Mukaronpur on Fatehgarh Sahib – Mohali road. Lauding the initiative, the Chief Minister said that the film city would come up in a 400 acres area. It is an initiative under the Invest Punjab and Business First policy. Terming the films as the most useful medium to give positive direction to the society, Channi emphasized the influence of quality films and songs which can inspire the youth to channelize their energy in a positive manner. He also said that no stone would be left unturned to give a boost to the film industry in the State. In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said that good songs and movies need encouragement and assured that the Punjab Government would not lag behind in this regard. “Full cooperation would be extended to the film fraternity in carrying out their operations in the State in an uninterrupted way,” he said. On the occasion, MLA Gurpreet Singh GP said that Bassi Pathana usually witnesses film shootings which result in job avenues ultimately leading to overall development of Bassi Pathana. PFC World Entertainment Private Limited Executive Director Iqbal Singh Cheema said that the film city would be equipped with the facilities such as Shooting Feller, Back Lot, Shooting Range, Themed and General Sets besides technicians and shooting spaces, film city residences, boarding, and allied services. He also mentioned that the film city would ensure availability of robust infrastructural frameworks with regard to the proper conduct of film as well as the album shootings. All this would put Mohali, Chandigarh and other areas on the world map.
