Punjab becomes Hockey Champion in Khelo India Youth Games

Punjab Hockey Team has won the men’s hockey champion of the Khelo India Youth Games.

According to Olympian Balwinder Singh Shammi, a member of Hockey Punjab’s ad hoc committee appointed by Hockey India, the leading hockey organization in India, after the suspension of Hockey Punjab Defeated Uttar Pradesh 3-1 to clinch the title.

Shammi further said that it was the result of the hard work of the players and coaches in the 15 days of coaching camp before the participation of the team of Hockey Punjab Ad Hoc Committee.

He further said that keeping in view the excellent performance of the Punjab Hockey Team, the Ad Hoc Committee of Hockey Punjab has decided to award a cash prize of Rs.

He said that this was the first time that the winning team of Punjab team was being honored with a cash prize by the ad hoc committee of Hockey Punjab.

Gurmel Singh, Hardeep Singh Neeta, Harpreet Singh Mander, Daljit Singh Dhillon on winning gold medal by Punjab Hockey Team sent under the supervision of Hockey Punjab Ad Hoc Committee appointed by Hockey India after suspension of Hockey Punjab in Khelo India Youth Games.

Daljit Singh Dhillon, Davinder Singh Garcha, Baldev Singh, Brigadier Harcharan Singh (All Olympians), Nirmal Singh, Rajbir Kaur, Baldev Singh Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal, Jugraj Singh, Bikramjit Singh, Sukhjit Kaur (All International Players), Baldev Singh Dronacharya While awardees Nitin Kohli, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Jagroop Singh Jharkhar and Kanwaljit Singh (Director, Khalsa Academy) congratulated the players and coaches of Punjab, the Hockey Punjab Ad Hoc Committee handed over Rs. 1.00 lakh cash to the Punjab Gold Medal winning team. Apart from the award, the decision to honor each player with composite hockey and sports kits was lauded.
