PSPCL imposes Rs 26 lakh penalty on a dera in Bhikhiwind for theft of electricity

Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) got a big success when the team caught a direct theft of electricity being committed by a dera situated at Bhikhiwind in district Tarn Taran.

A Spokesman of the PSPCL said that the enforcement team of Tarn Taran was investigating a complaint regarding the theft of electricity in this case. During the investigation, the team found at the site that the theft of electricity was being committed by directly connecting a 300 KVA transformer to the nearby HT lines. The spokesman further added that during the checking a huge unauthorized load being used illegally was detected which includes 17 no ACs, 7 no geysers, 4 no motors, 196 no lights and 87 no fans. Subdivision officer Sur Singh has sent a notice of 26 lakh rupees as a penalty for theft of electricity and an FIR has also been lodged in the anti-power theft police station, Verka Amritsar to take action against the consumer as per law.
