Deputy Commissioner Harish Nair has asked the officials of the Mining Department to use all possible means to curb the black marketing of sand. He clarified that sand should be provided to the people at affordable rates in all cases.
He said that Punjab State Sand and Gravel Mining Policy, 2021 has been approved. The Punjab Government has fixed the price at Rs. 5.50 per cubic foot for providing sand to the people at reasonable rates. Assuming base rate, people will be provided sand at reasonable rate / cheap rate.
He said that the agenda set by the Punjab Chief Minister ‘Mission Clean’ was very clear and it would be strictly followed in principle. No one will be allowed to charge more than the rates fixed by the Punjab government to control the prices of sand.
He directed the officials of the Mining Department to ensure the supply of sand to the people as per the rates issued by the Punjab government. He made it clear that any leniency in this work would not be tolerated and if any complaint of excessive recovery was received then strict action would be taken against him. Also instructed.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the SDMs and DSPs to monitor the implementation of new rates in their respective jurisdictions. Axian Ramnik Kaur, SDO Gursimran Singh Gill and others were also present.
