Prohibition on construction of unauthorized religious places in Nawanshahr

District Magistrate Dr. Shena Aggarwal has banned unauthorized construction of any kind of religious place on government places / public places/streets/parks in the district. Under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (Act II of 1974), these prohibition orders will remain in force throughout the district till April 6, 2021. According to the District Magistrate, the Hon’ble Supreme Court has directed SLP (Civil) 8519/2006 v. Government of India v. Government of Gujarat to strictly enforce the construction of a religious place on any public place, park or street, etc. Is blocked by It is in compliance with these orders that these prohibition orders have been issued. He said that it would be the responsibility of the heads of various departments to ensure that no temple, church, mosque, or gurdwara of any kind was under construction at any of the places under their jurisdiction and they should regularly review it. He directed the Acting Officers, Block Development and Panchayat Officers and Sarpanches of the Municipal Councils not to allow any unauthorized construction of any religious place on the land owned by the Municipal Council / Panchayat / Shamlat / Mushtarka. In case of any violation, the nearest police station should be informed immediately. He also asked the senior police captain of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar to immediately register a case against anyone violating his restraining order and stop the construction.
