Chandigarh, May 15
As the state grapples with a power crisis with a heatwave at its peak, the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has appealed to medium and small-scale industries in Punjab to take their weekly offs on weekdays instead of Sundays.
The appeal has been made to manage the power load and rising supply demand.
“Many small and medium scale industries remain shut on Sunday. As the power demand is more on weekdays than on weekends, if the industries decide to take weekly offs on weekdays instead of Sunday, it will help bring immense relief amid the power crisis and will be beneficial both for PSPCL and the consumers,” said PSPCL chairman Baldev Singh Sran.
PSPCL chairman further clarified that it is just an appeal, industries have a choice to follow it or not.
Punjab has witnessed unprecedented demand for power due to a sharp rise in temperature since March this year in comparison to last year.
