PAU holds training camp on Entrepreneurship Development in Agro Processing

The Department of Processing and Food Engineering, PAU, Ludhiana organized a training camp on Entrepreneurship Development in Agro Processing for Livelihood for the benefit of the SC/ST candidates on 7.10.2021 at Village Jugial, Near Hajipu, Talwara.

About 25 participants attended the camp. Dr M S Alam, Principal Scientist and Scheme Incharge of AICRP on PHET, PAU Ludhiana elaborated on the concept of agro processing complexes in getting quality products, reducing post-harvest losses, employment to rural youth and achieving diversification concept in agriculture besides improving the economic and social status.

He also emphasized on adopting honey processing activities at small scale and using the facilities at the department. Dr Tarsem Chand Mittal, Coordinator of the training course and Principal Extension Specialist shared the techniques for processing of oilseed crops and turmeric as well as the associated machines developed in the department.

He also shed light on the importance of packaging in fetching additional profit. In the end, the working know-how of small-scale oil expeller was demonstrated.

Raman Attri, S.C.O dwelled on the importance of these training programs for the upliftment of the community in the field of agro processing.

Seema Rani and Jitender Singh proposed the vote of thanks. On this occasion, free kit and PAU literature was distributed among the participants.
