The Biocontrol Section, Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been conferred with the “Best Centre Award” for the year 2020-21 for its outstanding contribution in the field of biological control research, mass production of bioagents and dissemination of biocontrol technologies for suppression of crop pests.
The best performing “All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Biological Control of Crop Pests” Centre Award was presented to PAU during the 30th Annual Group Meet of AICRP, held online on July 14, 2021. Dr Neelam Joshi, Principal Microbiologist; Dr PS Shera, Senior Entomologist; Dr Rabinder Kaur, Senior Entomologist and Dr Sudhendu Sharma, Senior Entomologist, received the award. The AICRP biocontrol has 37 centres across the country and is aimed at developing and disseminating eco-friendly biocontrol technologies for field, vegetable and horticultural crops.
The Registrar Dr RS Sidhu, Director of Research Dr NS Bains, Director of Extension Education Dr JS Mahal, Head of the Department of Entomology Dr PK Chhuneja and other senior officials of PAU congratulated the biocontrol team for putting stupendous efforts for this award.
