Patiala, June 5

On the occasion of World Environment DayMr. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO of Patiala Foundation, presented the Foundation’s key environmental initiatives to Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The presentation took place during an event organized under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) at the KVK Patiala campus.

Mr. Ahluwalia briefed the Hon’ble Minister on Patiala Foundation’s flagship initiative Project PRITHVI, which focuses on sustainable environmental solutions. Under the project’s second phase, the Foundation is actively installing Dry Leaf Composters in both individual households and community spaces. These composters effectively convert dry leaves into nutrient-rich organic manure, promoting zero-cost waste management, reducing air pollution caused by leaf burning, and supporting organic farming practices.

The Hon’ble Minister was also apprised of the Foundation’s upcoming Clean and Safe Drinking Water Project, being undertaken in collaboration with the International Centre for Clean Water (ICCW), under the aegis of IIT Madras. The plant, to be set up in village Ranbirpura, will deploy nanotechnology-based filtration to remove heavy metals from water sources and provide safe, potable drinking water to rural communities—an initiative that strengthens both public health and environmental sustainability.

Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed deep appreciation for the impactful work carried out by Patiala Foundation. He lauded the team’s commitment to grassroots-level innovation and sustainable development, and encouraged continued efforts with the same passion and dedication.

This interaction marked a significant moment in recognizing civil society’s role in environmental rejuvenation and rural empowerment, aligned with India’s national goals of building a cleaner, greener, and healthier nation—a vision to which Patiala Foundation remains deeply committed.
