On 3rd consecutive day, 2 mobiles recovered from ‘cavity in jail wall’

On the third consecutive day, two mobiles were recovered, kept in the ‘cavity in jail wall’ opposite ‘chakki’ during the search operation by Satnam Singh, Assistant Superintendent.

Earlier, on January 4, four mobiles and on January 3 mobiles were recovered during the search operation besides banned items like ‘zarda’ sachets, from two packets thrown from outside in the jail. During the last year, around 300 mobiles were recovered which were smuggled in. However, its usage purpose is still under investigation by the police.

As per the details, one mobile was recovered from the cavity in the wall opposite ‘chakki’ numbers 7 and 8. Another mobile was recovered during search operation from the ‘furnaces’ on the backside of barrack number 5.

Meanwhile, the instant case under Sections 52-A/42 of the Prisons Act has been registered and further investigations are on with Amandeep Kaur, IO.

However, according to a jail official, a close watch is being kept on inmates and regular searches are being conducted in barracks as well as prisoner’s cells randomly.
