Odisha: Special pension for cops who succumbed to coronavirus

The Accountant General has reportedly sanctioned a special pension for the 13 Odisha police personnel who lost their lives due to coronavirus during their duty. As per the reports, the special pension is equal to the last pay drawn of police personnel.

According to the reports by The New Indian Express, around 28 Odisha police personnel have fallen to the deadly virus so far and more than 2,500 have been infected.

Recently, an ASI, who joined the services in the year 1995, succumbed to coronavirus. A senior police officer reportedly told that the ASI’s family would receive his current salary till the date of his ‘notional’ retirement. Also, a proposal would be sent to the Centre to sanction Rs 50 lakh ex-gratia for the deceased officer’s family. In case, the Centre does not sanction the amount, the State Government is likely to look into the matter.
