Sri Muktsar Sahib 20 October

Deputy Commissioner MK Aravind Kumar Sri Muktsar Sahib appealed to the people that any parent should set up in the sub divisions of the district instead of throwing their unwanted child in unsafe places like killing, littering or throwing in the bushes. Leave in cradles. This will save the life of the child and this child will be legally adopted by a needy family.
Disclosing this here today the Deputy Commissioner said that this cradle was located at Manavata Bal Ashram on Udekaran Road in Sri Muktsar Sahib, outside Malout and Gidderbaha sub divisions.
He appealed to the residents of the district that any parent can leave their unwanted child in the cradle and press the bell button attached to it. No legal action will be taken against the parents who abandoned the child.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the Juvenile Justice Act provides protection to the parents for abandonment of the child. He said the identity of such a child could not be revealed by the media. Anyone violating it could face up to six months imprisonment or a fine of up to Rs 2 lakh or both under the Juvenile Justice Act. Parents are therefore urged to safely leave their unwanted child in the cradle without any fear so that the child’s life can be saved and his / her future by adopting the needy family through legal process.
